Regular Home Grooming is Part of Pet Wellness Care
At Cross Creek Animal Medical Centre, we want pet owners to be aware that regular Tampa pet grooming is part of a comprehensive approach to pet wellness care. Regular grooming at home and routine bathing appointments with by the professionals here at our Tampa veterinary hospital are imperative to keeping your pet healthy.
Home Pet Grooming Tips from Our Veterinarian
Depending on your pet, home grooming should typically consist of regular baths, hair brushing, nail clipping, and tooth brushing. For bathing, use a specially formulated pet shampoo that will meet any of the special needs of your pet. Regular brushing at home helps your pet’s skin and hair stay healthy, while allowing you the chance to check for any parasites, bumps, or rashes. Brushing spreads protective oils evenly over their body, keeps skin from becoming dry and flaky, and reduces hairballs. If a pet’s hair becomes matted, it can pull at the skin, causing lesions and bleeding.
Clip your pets’ nails to keep them from growing too long and causing pain when your pet walks. Brush your pets’ teeth regularly to prevent the build-up of plaque and keep their breath smelling sweet. Our veterinarian can provide further advice on how to groom your pet at home. Many pet owners find that the time they spend grooming their pets can be relaxing and also serves as an enjoyable bonding experience.
Professional Pet Bathing and Cleaning
In addition to providing home grooming tips, our Centre provides several types of professional maintenance for pets. At Cross Creek Animal Medical Centre, our services include bathing, brush outs, ear cleaning and nail trimming. As part of our commitment to keeping pets healthy, during a bathing appointment our staff will inspect your pet’s body to look for any signs of parasites, fleas or skin diseases. We look for any debris in the pads on their feet, check their ears and clean them thoroughly. Our staff may also look inside your pet’s mouth and can recommend any necessary pet dental treatments. If we notice anything that is cause for concern, our veterinarian is notified so further action can be taken.
